Twitter is like an intellectual equivalent of the southeastern Australian coast right now, deadly brush fires everywhere you turn demanding your attention so you don't know where to focus.
Trump doubling down on his belief that there were no US casualties in the Iranian raids on bases in Iraq, after the army announced that there were a number of cases of traumatic brain injury (TBI)Why are these Democrats complaining about lawyer lawsuits? We have lawyer lawsuits all the time! You can't FILE a lawsuit without a lawyer!— Dopes 'n' Babies (@Yastreblyansky) January 23, 2020
Oh, FOIA lawsuits?
Never mind https://t.co/oDQGAN880e
“I heard they had headaches and a couple of other things ... and I can report it is not very serious,” Trump said at a press conference in Davos, Switzerland....
“No, I don’t consider them very serious injuries relative to other injuries that I’ve seen,” the president said, and described meeting previously with U.S. troops wounded by roadside bombs. “I’ve seen people with no legs and with no arms. I’ve seen people that were horribly, horribly injured in that area, that war.”
It's really interesting; he lacks a fully-formed object permanence, so a visible maiming (lost arm or leg) is more real to him than an invisible one (TBI). https://t.co/5kUS7NxNMH our toddler president @DanielDale— Dopes 'n' Babies (@Yastreblyansky) January 23, 2020
We have some ideas of how he might be selling American policy, in the ways he defies Congress, on Russia (not implementing sanctions), Saudi Arabia (vetoing congressional restrictions on helping their war on Yemen), Turkey (abandoning Syrian Kurds)...— Dopes 'n' Babies (@Yastreblyansky) January 23, 2020
Reagan team were really copying Nixon 1968, who stopped South Vietnam from making a Johnson-brokered truce with North Vietnam, promising them a better deal if he was elected. https://t.co/94GAoPCpvj— Dopes 'n' Babies (@Yastreblyansky) January 23, 2020
A "victory for farmers"— Dopes 'n' Babies (@Yastreblyansky) January 23, 2020
Farmers aren't known for supporting long-term destruction of the land in favor of this year's quarterly bottom line. NYTimes means "corporate AG interests" https://t.co/rYuMZkxAVs
My son just finished his economics degree, as it happens, and he's no academic star by any means, but he knows far more than Mnuchin does about the limitations of the field. The ignorance of somebody who believes a degree in economics qualifies somebody to claim to KNOW anything at all, let alone anything about issues of our survival as a species.— Dopes 'n' Babies (@Yastreblyansky) January 23, 2020
Speaking of sons,
It's also the case that Hunter Biden was well qualified for what he was asked to do. Burisma already had plenty of energy experts, they needed international lawyers, and he is one, with Georgetown degree and board experience.— Dopes 'n' Babies (@Yastreblyansky) January 23, 2020
As I've said before, I came out to complain about Hunter Biden's Ukraine job when it became public almost six years ago, and I still think it was a stupid move, but it's ridiculous to blame him for the way the world actually is. Overpaid board members are everywhere. (Heidi Cruz in addition to having a managing directorship at Goldman Sachs as her full-time salaried job was on the Texas Business Leadership Council, the board of the Greater Houston Partnership, and the Advancement Board of the Yes Prep Public Schools of Houston.)The reported amount of money seems crazy to me, but that's a problem with the system, not with him. And how many boards has, say, Heidi Cruz sat on?— Dopes 'n' Babies (@Yastreblyansky) January 23, 2020
Incidentally everybody should read or reread this New Yorker profile by Adam Entous of Hunter Biden, which came out last July, for a little sense of how he's a (no doubt messed-up) human being. I'm still convinced there's a possibility that he should make a public appearance to talk about what his job at Burisma actually was, because there really wasn't anything particularly Ukraine-corrupt about it; anything you'd want to call corrupt in that is going on all over the United States at this very moment.
And speaking of Cruz,
Debate champ. That's a good move, if you're playing a game with no stakes other than a trophy: the argument is idiotic but takes too long to refute.— Dopes 'n' Babies (@Yastreblyansky) January 23, 2020
And Cruz is too much of a psychopath to understand the stakes are higher here.
