The great soprano, maybe the greatest musician I've seen, who died yesterday. I never saw enough of her, and I think this is the performance that I regret missing most, in the 1988 Ariadne auf Naxos with Tatiana Troyanos (who died really young) and Kathleen Battle and James King. I saw her in the part in 1993 but in a hateful, silly, too-busy production where she got a bit buried.

Jessye Norman RIP
