In reality, he was just quoting some praise from a real tweet by @TheOfficialABCD, but forgot to put in quotation marks. But it's just as funny, and infra dig, as if he really were revealed using a sock puppet, and Trumpian, this trick of inserting a bit of praise under your own name—why not just retweet the guy like a normal person, for goodness' sake?

Cheap shots: Naked Came the Sock Puppet

Fox News host Tucker Carlson suggested over the weekend that laws regulating military-style semiautomatic rifles did not make sense .... "We should be clear for our viewers, assault weapon is a made up term," Carlson replied. "And there really is no such thing as an assault weapon." (Crooks & Liars)
The thing is, as a number of people were quick to point out, all terms are made-up terms. The question is whether it finds something coherent to apply itself to. For example, as the ngram below shows, "assault weapon" has been pretty successful since it was introduced in 1917, while "sniveling weasel", first showing up in 1989, has been somewhat iffy:

| Shepherd Smith in the new Fox newsroom: "Roger, I shrunk the reporters!" |
The actor James Woods was outraged earlier this week at the treatment of demonstrators demanding a new immigration law including a path to legal citizenship when thousands of them converged on the National Mall on Tuesday, more than a hundred and fifty of them being arrested, including eight members of Congress—while only a week before a group of World War II veterans had almost been prevented from visiting their own memorial on the Mall, getting their permit after they had arrived, whereas the immigration demonstrators got their permit beforehand, even though the Mall is closed by the shutdown of the Federal government. The transparent injustice of it—the way the elderly veterans almost didn't get to go while the vicious alien hooligans almost didn't get arrested—prompted him to risk all by sending a bold Tweet:
This President is a true abomination. To have barricaded the WW2 vets, but allow illegal aliens privilege... http://t.co/OqQzp3VdKvHis fans quickly responded: [jump]

| Best I could do. All the pictures of black leather briefs were short ones, and mostly on male models. Via Magnificent Bastard. |
Her new profile picture, in a Swiss-cheese bra that leaves little to the imagination and long black leather sleeves and briefs, is so revealing that it drew a torrent of breathless comments.Something about those hyperventilating comment torrents has an almost Lovecraftian doomed majesty. Kurtz leaves a lot to the imagination. Now how do I turn it off?
Update
Beautiful, by the way, from Erik Wemple:
Kurtz himself refrains from alleging that the pictures go too far. He merely asks if they go too far, which means he thinks they go too far, but by asking the question, he gets to claim that hallowed middle ground he’s spent his entire career clinging to.Reminds me, if I may say so, of me on Kurtz & Milbank.
