It's true! Happer is stuck as the tenured Cyrus Fogg Brackett Professor of Physics in Princeton, which is exactly like a life sentence of house arrest and being required to read the seven penitential psalms on a weekly basis, except I guess Dr. Happer's pay is better, and Andrew Ross Sorkin can put him on TV as an "industry expert", which would have gotten Sorkin himself jailed back in the 1630s.
Though not for insisting that the world was round. According to most physicists, even with chairs at Princeton, the Vatican already knew that one.
But then who can forget the cruelty with which the Obama administration herded the CO2 into detention. "You belong in gas chambers!" his goons cackled. They treated it as if it wasn't even human!

Fox "journalist" Chris Stirewalt, via Mr. Pierce:
Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., is leading a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing today on his bill that would override the laws banning late-term abortions and imposing regulations on abortion clinics in an increasing number of states. The bill, which already has the support of nearly two-thirds of Senate Democrats, would eradicate the restrictions in at least a dozen states where abortions have been banned after the start of the sixth month of pregnancy and rules in many more states that regulate the conditions at abortion clinics. The New York Times editorial board is enthused as are others on the left who have seen access to elective abortions restricted in the aftermath of the discovery of a house of horrors at the Philadelphia abortion clinic operated by Dr. Kermit Gosnell. But Blumenthal's anti-anti-Gosnell bill takes Democrats into some very dangerous political territory.Except only from the retroactionary standpoint, because the restrictions on abortion after 24 weeks came more in the foremath of Dr. Gosnell's hideous clinic, having been consecrated in the ruling of Roe v. Wade (1973).
Not to harp on something I've repeatedly noted before, but people are just not getting this*: Pennsylvania is and has been at least since 1982 one of those states that bans abortions after the start of the sixth month (with a very strict survival-of-the-mother exception). This is WHY Kermit Gosnell's shop was in Philadelphia, because Gosnell was an abortion prohibition gangster, and Philadelphia is in an abortion prohibition state. THE BLUMENTHAL BILL WOULD END GOSNELLING AS THE 21ST AMENDMENT ENDED RUM-RUNNING by ensuring that late-term abortions are available nationwide in clean, safe, properly inspected and licensed facilities. It is an absolutely non-pro-Gosnell bill. That is all.
*And partly because I'm unable to leave a comment over at Mr. Pierce's place, I believe because of something disagreeable I once said about Mr. Glenn Greenwald.
